The Higher Power Of Intuition

Have you ever had a "gut" feeling and not listened? Most likely it cost you "big time." Ours is a culture that has not yet given full credence to the inherent wisdom of our spiritual nature. The fact is we have a source of intelligence within us that most of us seldom use; it's known as our intuition. Intuition is a sixth sense that seems directly connected to the creative intelligence of the Universe.

The information comes to us generally in a feeling rather than a logical, "figure it out" type thinking process. Some people call it our instinct. Others call it a "gut" feeling. Either way, if you're not utilizing this incredibly powerful inner guidance system, that is at your service 24 hours a day, you are operating in life with "one hand tied behind your back."

The key to "tapping in" is to get your "chatter box" mind to quiet down. You can do this by meditating or simply focusing on the present moment. Once the mind is quiet, wisdom can come through. The idea is to "let go" of your normal thinking process, in fact to "stop thinking". It may sound strange, but you've probably experienced this difficult to explain phenomena during a time when you were trying to remember something but couldn't. Finally, you stopped trying to "figure it out" and later, out of the blue, the answer popped into your head.

Your spirit knows what's right for you. It knows what directions you need to take for your highest good and the good of others. Although your analytical mind is a magnificent tool, when it comes to the key decisions of your life, it pales in comparison to the inner wisdom of your "intuition".

EXERCISE:

Intuition is something we all have in equal amounts. However, it's the old story of "use it or lose it." Today, begin to practice quieting your mind, asking your "spirit self" for direction, and allowing your intuition to come through as a feeling or a thought that simply "pops" into your head. Most important, you must have enough trust and courage to follow this guidance especially when it defies logic, which is usually the case.

Declaration:
I trust myself. I trust the Universe.
I am open to listening to my higher guidance.

Change Is Good!

Sometimes we love change and sometimes we hate it. Regardless, it always takes a little bit of courage to leave something familiar and try something new. Why is change difficult for most of us? Because change necessitates that we move out of our comfort zones.

Since the ego, or protective mind's job is survival, it will always prefer safety and security over the untested and unproven. It likes to keep things the same. It has us believe "the devil I know, is better than the devil I don't know." In short, "if I stay with what I know and what is familiar, I won't get hurt." This belief system is simply not true and goes directly against the laws of nature.

Most people are not totally happy and successful, yet they continue to do the same things over and over hoping someday things will be different. Realize if what you've been looking for was where you've been looking, chances are you'd have already found it! Doing more of the same even harder and longer is not usually the answer. Being willing to change will usually create better results.

Since your inner world creates your outer world, one of the first steps in change, is changing your thoughts. By examining the way you talk to yourself and your beliefs around success, money and prosperity, you are in a position to consciously change any thoughts that are based in lack, fear and limitation. Because what you focus on expands, by intentionally thinking of prosperity, abundance and success you will attract those very things.

Change is natural. The universe is in constant motion, from the changing of the seasons; to the way plants, trees and flowers grow; from the rushing of the rivers, to the wind that blows. Life is always moving, always changing. In fact, the only constant in the world, the only thing you can absolutely count on, is change itself.

Therefore, utilize every change as a gift. Whenever change occurs, ask yourself "how can I use this change to my benefit?" If you lose your job, know that a new and better opportunity awaits you. If you lose a relationship, know that a new and better relationship awaits you.

The happiest and most successful people all share a critical characteristic – the trait of adaptability. Which means they have the ability to quickly adapt to new situations and circumstances. The idea then is to go with the flow and not only accept change, but embrace it as an opportunity to expand yourself and your life.

EXERCISE:

Today, make a list of all the areas in your life where changes needs to take place. Make sure your list not only covers the situations in your life, but also your environment and how you personally need to change. Start implementing those changes now!

Declaration:
I am adaptable. I accept change easily and use it to my advantage.

Go For Your Big Dreams!

Remember when you were a kid and felt you could set the world on fire? Millionaire? Sure. Hollywood star? Of course! Astronaut? Easy. Best-selling author? No problem. World traveler? Start packing.

So what happened? Where are you now? Are you living the life you thought you'd lead? Unfortunately, life has a way of knocking the stuffing out of our highest hopes and biggest dreams…if we let it! Most people have lost the sparkle in their eye and the fire in their heart. They've lost their passion and allowed their lives to become a faint glimmer of the vibrant vision they once had for themselves. They've committed the great sin of the spirit and settled for a life of mediocrity.

The main reason most of us lose our dreams is not because our desire has waned, but because of fear. "I don't have the money, I don't have the time, it's too late, I don't know for sure if I can do it." All of these reasons are nothing but the excuses of a fear and lack based protective mind. There is a saying in life, that we either have "reasons or results."

It's time to take back your power; time to think big once again; time to rekindle your greatest dreams. Dreams that excite you, dreams that impassion you, dreams that force you to break the bonds of "mediocrity"; reach your fullest potential and become the "ultimate you."

EXERCISE:
Today, list the big dreams you had from the past or invent exciting new ones! Come from power versus fear. Start thinking about what you "can" do instead of what you "can't" do. Commit, then focus on one step at a time and begin immediately!

Declaration:
I consistently take action on my big dreams.

Money with Meaning - Living Your Life "On-Purpose"

Why are you here? Why are you on the planet right now? Many people believe we each come into this life with a purpose, a reason for living. Considering that every element in nature has a specific purpose for existing, and we are an integral part of nature, it stands to reason that we have a purpose too.

Eastern philosophies submit that each of us has a job to do, a duty in life, and that the only way to find peace and fulfillment is to carry out your duty or "dharma" as it's called. The philosophy states that to truly be happy you must learn to live in service, to live based on what you can give rather than only on what you can get; to live based "on purpose" rather than only "on outcome".

The brilliant futurist, Buckminster Fuller said, "The purpose of our lives is to add value to the people of this generation and those that follow." In short, to leave this world a better place than it was when you arrived. It could be in terms of adding convenience, education, entertainment, enlightenment, health, beauty, joy, humour, technology, or any other way you personally can serve other people or the planet.

Although many people believe they have a purpose, they often have a difficult time discovering their own reason for living. Because purpose holds such a spiritual sense, people tend to believe their purpose will somehow be handed down from the heavens. They wait and wait for some "burning bush" to tell them what to do. It's true, a few "tuned-in" people do receive some type of message; some unmistakable calling. But the answer for most of us is that we actually have to "choose" our purpose. We are the ones who decide how we are best suited to serve.

Our choice, however, is not random. We each have unique abilities, inherent talents and strengths. We each have different interests and activities that bring us joy. We each have different experiences and issues from which we've learned, and we all have a different way in which we can best serve others. It is through these factors you "choose" your purpose.

Can your purpose change? Yes. More likely, however, is that your overall purpose remains the same, while the vehicle you use to provide your service may change on an ongoing basis. If your purpose is to teach, for example, you may teach your own children, teach in a school, become an author or a speaker or even be a consultant. Regardless of your vehicle, your dharma is to "teach".

It takes courage to choose a purpose and even more courage to live your life based on it! Once you have purpose, you will have two essential elements for a truly happy life - money and meaning! In this way, you will become ‘rich’ in every sense of the word.

EXERCISE:

List your unique abilities, talents, strengths, interests and joys. From here choose an overall purpose for your life. Clarify it by writing it down. Then choose an initial vehicle with which you can serve people that is in alignment with your purpose. Begin today to live your life based on purpose.

Declarations:

I am here for a reason.
I have important work to do.
I live my life on purpose.

The Power of Appreciation and Gratitude

Sure, we're polite. We always say "please" and "thank you"... to strangers at least. But for some reason, it seems that we often forget to say "thank you" and show our appreciation to the people who are closest to us; to our family, our co-workers, our employees, our teachers. We especially forget to say "thank you" to the universe for our many blessings.

Saying thank you and showing appreciation can be done in many ways. But the most important thing is simply recognizing how fortunate we all are. The fact is, in this country, even our slums are better than the best of what many other countries in the world have to offer.

Our lack-based protective mind continuously looks for more (like a squirrel hording nuts for winter) and has a tendency to overlook and discount what we already do have. Consequently, unless we consistently remind ourselves to look for "what's right" in our lives, we often only see "what's wrong."

It takes courage to "want what we've got" and be grateful for what we already have. The ego will tell us that if we spend too much time appreciating what we have, we won't attempt to get "more" and disaster will eventually befall us. This is how the ego keeps us on the high-speed treadmill of "more". The fact is, however, that there is never an end to the chase. (We think it will end, but notice from your own experience that it never does!)

The key to remember is that wanting what you currently have has nothing to do with not getting any more. Just because you truly enjoy and appreciate tonight's meal does not mean you won't want to eat tomorrow. To the contrary, appreciating it fully motivates you to take even more action in the hopes of enjoying this wonderful situation again.

The universe has a rule that states, "If you don't appreciate what you've got then you won't get anymore." In short, if you don't appreciate one, you don't need two. Again, it's the old "use it (as in appreciate it fully) or lose it" deal. The power of appreciation particularly holds true when it comes to our finances. If you want more abundance, be grateful for and properly manage all the wealth you have now. Remember, what you focus on expands.

A disaster like September 11th need not strike to make us appreciate all the abundance and blessings in our lives. Fully appreciating all the people, all the money, all the work, all the great many things you currently have in your life and expressing your appreciation and gratitude to others is one of the keys to living a fulfilled and truly ‘rich’ life.

It's time to focus not on what we lack, but to fully appreciate what we already have. To give gratitude for our health, our family, our friends, and our current wealth, however large or small, right now. It's time to count our blessings instead of discounting them.

EXERCISE:
Who and what have you not fully appreciated?

Today list all the people and things in your life for which you are grateful. In some special way, say "thank you" and show your appreciation to the people who mean the most to you, as well as to the Universe for all that you have.

Declaration:

I am totally grateful for who and what I have in my life right now.

The Power of Integrity

The definition of integrity has two parts, both equally important.

1. Uprightness of character, honesty.
2. The state of being complete or undivided.

Integrity basically means to be whole, complete and in truth. Unfortunately most people today do not keep their word and commitments. In the old days, your word was your bond. Keeping your word was the basic measure of who you were as a person. Nothing has changed. Your integrity truly represents who you are as a human being.

Without integrity there is no "trust", and trust is a critical key to success in both relationships and business. If people don't trust you, they won't want to be involved with you, and definitely won’t buy from you. Remember, you get back what you give out. If you are "out of integrity", two things will occur. First, since like attracts like, the universe will send you others who are "out of integrity" for you to deal with. Not to punish you, but to teach you. What better way for you to learn about "integrity" than to meet mirrors of yourself and experience others not telling the truth and not keeping their agreements or commitments.

Second, "integrity" is a higher power energy. Meaning that when you are "in integrity" you are in your power; you feel strong and confident about yourself. When you are out of integrity, you are out of your power and feel weak.

Make your word "law". When you say something, you have to mean it and be willing to go to the ends of the earth to make certain your word is kept. This not only builds trust in you from others, but you trust yourself more. As each thing you say actually happens, your confidence soars and you become a truly powerful human being. With your power comes success in any and all arenas of your life.

EXERCISE:

Today, start your practice of integrity with two simple exercises. First be "on time" for every appointment you make. Second, keep all of your agreements and commitments. If you told someone you would call them today, do it. If you told yourself you would workout today, do it. If you said you were going to put 10% of your money into your "Financial Freedom Account", do it. In short, say what you mean and mean what you say. If you do, not only will you gain the respect of others, you will also respect yourself!

Act in Spite of My Mood

"I don't 'feel' like it", is a common chant we often say to ourselves or to others when we're tired, not in the mood, or simply procrastinating. No doubt feelings are important and need to be acknowledged, yet at the same time, they often prevent us from taking the action we need to take, at the time we need to take it. Consequently, in the end, because we didn’t do what we needed to do, we tend to feel worse.

It takes courage to act regardless of your current mood. It's easy to succumb to your feelings. But remember, your feelings come from your thoughts, and you have the power to change your thoughts. When you change your thoughts, you will change the way you feel. Instead of focusing on how you're not in the mood, focus on the benefit of completing whatever needs to get done. Focus on how you'll feel when you’re finished and how proud you'll be of yourself for acting in spite of not being in the perfect mood.

Utilize the "law of momentum" which states that, "A body at rest tends to remain at rest while a body in motion tends to remain in motion". In short, get into motion! Remember, moods are a product of the "mind". The trick is simple: don't think, just do it! Train yourself to "get started" even if you're not in the mood. Moods tend to quickly dissipate once you're in action.

Whenever you don't "feel" like it, check in with your current thoughts. What are you thinking that is resulting in this feeling? Then simply change your thoughts. Remember, action generally comes from your higher self, the part of you that is for growth and expansion. Inaction generally comes from your protective mind, the part of you that tries to keep you stuck in your comfort zone. When you act in spite of your mood, you are choosing to manage and control your mind instead of letting it control you!

So the next time you're not feeling "in the mood", either change your thinking or simply say to your mind, "thank you for sharing". Then focus on only taking the very first step to get started, then take another, and another. One step at a time until the law of momentum kicks in. By then, chances are you'll forget all about not being "in the mood", and will be well on your way to completing whatever it was you needed to do...and feeling great about it!
